The Attractions of Cigars

Most people associate the classic, confident man with cigars, for various reasons. Some say it is due to the prevalence of cigars in many "masculine" films. When you come down to it, these are merely rolls of a papery material, yet they seem to represent so much more to many of their users.

Some people belittle the importance of the cigar to users. Cigar usage is far more a part of many people's lives than others understand, though. To someone who understands cigars, every stick has special meaning, every puff is one of true enjoyment.

Enthusiasts also bond over their smokes. Talks about matters known to those in the cigar-smoking world can be the start of great friendships. Friends may exchange tips on which cigars are best.

Brazil as well as Cuba are famous for the quality of their cigar materials. There are also high-quality varieties from Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Indonesia and the Philippines. Fortunately for cigar-lovers in the US, the laws on importing cigars are more or less permissive, all things considered.

These items are sold as self-serve items in local convenience stores, pharmacies and grocery stores, as well as in a few restaurants, hotel shops, vending machines, and online. It is slightly harder to find some of the more esteemed cigar makers' products, as they are carried only by particular sellers. The true aficionados get their premium sticks from well-established cigar chains such as United Cigar Stores, A&P and Woolworth.

Terrifically pricey items can be found in the Altadis section of a good cigar store. Altadis mainly relies on its consumers in countries like the US and Dominican Republic for profits. They are also known to make cigarettes.

Another major producer would be the company known as Swedish Match. They produce products in Germany, Belgium, Honduras, Indonesia, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. The company also puts out other tobacco-related products.

Perhaps the third most sought-out cigars are those made by the Fuente Family from the Dominican Republic. This family has made a name for itself with its superb rolls of tobacco and products. The brand's latest offering is the famous Fuente Fuente OpusX, a landmark in cigar production in the Dominican Republic.

From the Latin Americans, the makers with the most history would be the Leóns. They have spent more than a hundred years of working in the cigar industry. They are the makers of the León Jimenes, one of their most respected cigars.

Too many people use cigars for them to go away any time soon. Cigars are currently understood to be fairly expensive items now. Those who do smoke belong to the ranks of famous people such as Winston Churchill, Sigmund Freud, and Che Guevara, who all loved a delicious, exotic puff.
