The Rapid Rise Of Political Hopeful Enrique Pena Nieto Is Met With Approval By The Masses

Enrique Pena Nieto is number one for the Partido Revolucionario Institutional (PRI) to the election for president of Mexico in 2012 Prior to the announcement of his presidential candidacy, the 45-year old Mexican politician served as governor of the State of Mexico from 2005 to 2011. Enrique has prepared for politics with a law degree and an MBA.

He helped lay the groundwork for his political career when he became a member of the PRI in 1984. He learned the ropes by being an instructor in PRI's Electoral Training Center and a Coordinator for the party's Parliamentary Group in the LV Legislature. He also functioned as Chairman of the Political Coordination Board of the same legislature.

He was involved in the Mexican State government from the 90's up until 2002. During his stint in the state government of Mexico, he acted as, Government Administration Secretary, President of the Directive Council for the Social Security Institute, President of the Internal Council of Health Institute and Vice President of the Government Board for Integral Family Development System He joined the Public Administration and the Administrative Council for Decentralized Public Agencies.

Nieto exemplified what it means to be dedicated to politics by also being a political advisor to the PRI in addition to everything else. Everything he has done within the PRI organization has led up to this moment in time as a presidential candidate. His move from state government to presidential candidate has been seamless.

In 2004, he participated in his party's internal nominations for governorship of the state of Mexico. He had to advance past many other candidates. In February 2005, he was sworn in as the official gubernatorial candidate of PRI.

Victory day was July 3, 2005. 49 percent of the people voted for him. A crowd of 5,000 people came out to watch his inauguration on September 15, 2005.

The environment, energy reform and sustainable development and the acceleration of educational reform in support of youth empowerment and employment generation were his priorities when he became governor. The fact that he was able to accomplish anything within a party filled with conflict, speaks to his political capability. The state's economy, housing and agriculture business all benefited from his time in office.

He waited until the end of his term to run for the presidency. Oddly, Senator Manlio Fabio Beltrones, his only opponent decided not to run. Beltrone's decision not to run has enabled the PRI party to get behind Nieto one hundred percent.

Despite controversies, Pena Nieto is often referred to as the next president of Mexico. It is no surprise that Pena Nieto has cleverly held his own political polls to discredit his opponents, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador of the leftist PRD party and Josefina Vazquez Mota of the ruling party PAN. The official election for Mexico's 80 million people will be held on July 1 of this year.

The PRI expects their candidate to win. His concern and good work for the people of Mexico have laid the groundwork for the perception of Pena Nieto to be that of a democratic president unlike past presidents who were more like dictators. Pena Nieto looks forward to a Mexico free from marauding and fleeing citizens.
